The Dholera smart city in India draw inspiration from Shanghai

Shanghai in yester years used to be a fisherman’s village. In time the Britishers captured it and international trade started to prosper in the city. Post 1952, the economy surged and taxes were reduced remarkably contributing further to the economic progress of the city. All the other cities of China were also developing fast but Shanghai seemed to be in a hurry of winning some sort of economic race. It was becoming an example to the entire world guiding it towards a place where the only economic target is accelerated growth of the city.
Not just economically but it also proved to be a culturally rich country breeding various cultures and lifestyles within. It did not happen overnight; more than two decades were invested in making Shanghai to its current state which can be considered at par with the well-known economy of France. Shanghai eventually became the hub of international trade and an economically sound country.
How these smart cities shall become like Shanghai is yet to be planned and implemented. However, this project has brought in immense enthusiasm to the young Indian blood who perceive it as a once in lifetime opportunity for economic growth. Let us take a look at two dream projects of Modi which he has been dreaming of ever since he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat – The smart cities of Dholera SIR and GIFT city in the state of Gujarat.
Dholera Special Investment Region
It is a town situated between the influential cities of Ahmedabad and the state capital Gandhinagar. Dholera SIR is being planned as the biggest and most advanced smart city of India and an international economic hub that shall soon be splurging with economic activities. It shall be spread over 920 square kilometers and shall consist of international airport, metro connectivity and high access corridor. It shall also have a port that shall be comparable to Shanghai; the busiest port of the world since 2005. The region shall be developed as a Special Investment Zone and serve to be a major attraction for investors with their money returning quick and high returns.
The first smart city of India, it shall be an unmatched one in the entire country!
Gujarat International Finance Tech City (GIFT City)
This city shall have different business and domestic zones with 20,000 buildings in it. 110 high rise towers shall enhance the infrastructure of the city. 410 meters twin towers shall also form a part of the city and a special 80 floored building called the Diamond Tower shall be constructed which shall be utilized for diamond trading.
The city shall be creating over 10 lakh employment opportunities and shall have space for 30 lakh residents. Schools, hospitals and new age amusement parks shall be main attractions of the city.
It shall serve as a technically advanced financial hub, a very important feature distinguishing it from the rest of the cities.

All the streets around old-town Cartagena look like this. The colors vary, but they are often strong, and lots of nice balconies.

HDR of 3 handheld shots. This time Photomatix was not able to crisply align the images, but I insisted in using it because it is the only shot Ihave of this nice blue building. Cranked up the smart sharpen to make up the fuzziness, used Freaky Detail again (http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2010/archives/8691), which is similar to Nik Tonal Contrast. For scenes with walls like these I prefer freaky detail because Tonal Contrast enhances the roughness of the walls too much. I masked the sky and street when applying freaky detail. Some dodging on the shadowed walls, and then Nik Skylight filter to give it a more sunny look.
